Funeral services for Elsie Mae Lewis, 84, the mother of Zelma Lanter of Davis, were Jan. 3, 2005, at the Cowley, Krien Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Gaines officiating. Burial was at Salem Presbyterian Cemetery. She died Dec. 30, 2004, at the Artesian Nursing Home in Sulphur.
She was born July 13, 1920, to Fronie (Davis) and Edmond Williamson. She lived and worked in Murray County and the Sulphur area all her life and was a nurse's aide at the Artesian Nursing Home. She married Winfred Lewis, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by six children, Alexander Lewis, Regina Lopez, Vera Kemp, Louetta Foreman and Rowena Huff, all of Sulphur, and Mrs. Lanter of Davis, 24 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, a brother, Armond Williamson of Sulphur, and a sister, Zona Gaines of Hominy.
