James R. moved to Houston County Texas from White Co. Tenn. settling in the Daly Community in 1838.
When the Civil War started Hosea and his brother Robert joined up with Capt. R.S. Pridgen's Co. 5th Reg't, Texas Mounted Vols, on Oct 22, 1861 at Elkhart, Texas. He was officially Mustered into Service on Oct 30, 1861, San Antonio, Texas. Signed up from Dec. 31, 1861 to April 30, 1862.
Hosea's papers says he died from wounds received in "The Battle of Valverde".
March 14, 1862, at Socorro County, New Mexico.
No record of wife or children.
