DIXON - Mary Jane Boynton, 91, of Dixon died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at Heritage Square in Dixon. She was a school teacher in the Dixon School System for 35 years, teaching at Burkett, Bend, Loveland and Jefferson schools, prior to her retirement in 1978.
Mary Jane was born July 31, 1920, in Dixon, the daughter of Wilbert S. and Dorothy Emma (Hummel) Boynton. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Dixon, United Methodist Women, KSB Hospital Auxiliary and the Illinois Retired Teachers Association.
Survivors include one brother, Wilbert S. (Carol) Boynton Jr. of Dixon; two sisters, Ruth Strang of Sunnyside, Wash., and Lois (Anthony) Farina of Fond Du Lac, Wis.; one brother-in-law, Herbert Youngren of Dixon; 11 nieces and nephews, Susan (Bill) Reyelts of New Lenox, Dennis (Maria) Boynton of Dixon, Randy (Teresa) Youngren of Ellensburg, Wash., Ron (Marion) Youngren of Dixon, John (Rozlyn) Strang of Valdez, Alaska, Flicka (Tim) Arquette of Wapato, Wash., Doris (Jeff) Matson of Sunnyside, Mary (Paris) Bottoni of Maumee, Ohio, Steve (Martha) Farina of Budapest, Hungary, Ann (Gregg) Schneider of Mequon, Wis., and Dan Farina of Fond du Lac.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dean E. Boynton; two sisters, Doris E. Boynton and Mildred Youngren; and one nephew, Mark Youngren.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by the memorial service at 11 a.m., Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Dixon, with the Rev. Marilyn Nolan, pastor, officiating. Burial of cremains will be at East Jordan Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial funds have been established to Heritage Square and Grace United Methodist Church.
