Jack William "Jay" Brummett, 72, died Wednesday at Shands Hospital in Gainesville following a long illness.
A native of Pinehall, Ky., he had lived in Johnson for two years, coming from Stanford, Ky. He was a retired maintenance supervisor with Lincoln High School in Stanford, Ky. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Stanford and member of the Lincoln County Cattleman's Association.
He is survived by his wife, Josephine Brummett of Johnson; daughter, Ruby Lanigan of Johnson; four sisters, Catherine Baugh of Crab Orchard, Ky., Margaret Hogan of Louisville, Ky., Ann Peavers of Stanford, Ky., Florence Dye of Marion, Ohio; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Johnson with the Rev. Charles Litzell officiating. Burial will be in Johnson cemetery.
