Billy Felton Phillips, 72, of Warm Springs, died March 22 at Georgia Baptist Meriwether Hospital. Funeral services were conducted March 24 from Mt. Hope Baptist Church with Reverend Tom Norton officiating, assisted by Reverend S. T. Janney and Reverend Mike Lott. Pallbearers were Sammy Middlebrooks, Felton Knight, Buddy Williams, Sammy Phillips, Hamp Phillips, and Jerry Cochran. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Homer Swan, Bill Jones, Randolph Jones and Luther Kurrass. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Phillips was born February 5, 1928 in Meriwether County, son of the late Edwin Levy Phillips and Hattie Mae Jones Phillips. He was retired from the Maintenance Department at Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation and was a member of Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Warm Springs.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Smith Phillips of Warm Springs; one daughter, Kathy Diane P. Clements of Warm Springs; two sons, William Felton Phillips, also of Warm Springs, and Robert Lee Phillips of Woodbury; one brother, James Phillips of Warm Springs; seven grandchildren.
Smith-Steele-Meadows Funeral Home of Manchester was in charge of arrangements.
