Ada Ruth Hill "Gainer"
1928 - 2009
Ada Ruth Gainer Hill "Granny" who was born March 20, 1928, in Osceola County went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sept. 7, 2009.
She was the eldest daughter of Ben Wren Gainer and Kate Jackson. She migrated to Bay County in 1934. Mrs. Hill attended school in the Bay County school system.
Mrs. Hill is preceded in death by her husband, Isaiah Hill; son, Timothy Hill; daughter, Kathy Hill Brown; grandson, Jeffrey Lynn Hill; and five of her thirteen siblings: Ruby Johnson, Christine Barker, James Gainer, Wren Gainer Jr. and Leroy Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory three sons: Eugene Hill (Linda) Port St. Joe, Bernard Hill (Karen) Panama City, Gregory Hill (Willie Lou) Panama City; two grandchildren she raised: Juanita Manning (Kelvin), Stephanie Brown; eight sisters: Willie Mae "Dottie" Stanley, Faye Gainer, Evelyn Jones, Marie Lee Parker, Juanita Peterson, Annie Norman, Lori Bell Hill , Gloria Phillips; eight grandchildren: Erin "Tina" Hill, Chantrella Knox (Chris), Erin Hill, Bernard Hill Jr. (Trina), Toboria Lowder (Marcus), Breland Hill, Katelyn, Nickolas Rolack; thirteen great-grandchildren: C'rone, Kaytrenia, K'lani, Sangai, Chris Jr., Alexis, Jhi'oslyn, Oziria, Kaziah, Jaykwon, Jayshawn, Demarious, and Kamari.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hill will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerome Williams, officiating. Interment will follow in the Econfina Cemetery, Panama City, Fla. Public visitation will begin today from 1-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services at the church.
