Mable was born on March 22, 1922 in Wewoka (Seminole County) OK, the youngest of two children born to Harry F and Ester (Huskey) Menefee. She grew up and was educated in the Wewoka Public Schools. Mable accepted Christ as her personal Savior at the early age of 14, becoming active in all of the Baptist church activities, especially the music department. During her early adult years, she was employed by the United States Department AAA service and subsequently the Seminole County Treasurers Office. She married Bill Ott on August 8, 1943 in Seminole, OK. During the World War II years she was employed by the Carter Oil Co while waiting for her husband to return from the Navy. After the war, the Ott's moved to Stillwater, OK and enrolled in Oklahoma State University. This began a lifetime commitment to academic life while supporting her husband's university professor positions at Panhandle State University, Oklahoma State University, and Texas A & M University. Mable continued her education in the areas of English and Accounting, graduating with a double major. She also completed the Oklahoma State University Flight Training program and was a licensed private aircraft pilot. Her favorite hobbies were children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, traveling, playing Bridge, and trout fishing. Her son Richard Kent Ott preceded her in death in 1999. The family suggest that memorial be made to Accolade Hospice of Lubbock, 5201 Indiana Ave, Lubbock 79413 or any Alzheimer's Research groups.
