He moved to Pascagoula Parish, Louisiana Territory in 1811, one year before Jackson Co Miss was created.
Judge Samuel Davis served as Jackson County Clerk of Courts 1833 to 1853;
Jackson County Probate Judge 1854 to 1865;
Jackson Court House Postmaster 1857 to 1859;
Americus Postmaster, 1859 to 1866.
Strong supporters of Salem Methodist Church.
