James Anderson married Miss Margaret Eaves on 21 October 1855 at Willaimson County, Texas.
His parents moved the family to Williamson County. James Anderson is shown in the post returns at Fort Belknap in Young County by 1851, although the county would not be organized until 1856. His name does appear in county records after 1856 but before his untimely death. Mr. Anderson was in the business of buying and selling horses and mules to the US Army.
1860 Mortality census shows his occupation as farmer and cause of death as killed.
Stock raiser that was murdered according to Young County records and buried at Belknap, Texas.
survivors: his wife; son - James Washington Anderson, born 1856 at Belknap; daughter - Sarah Anderson, born 1859 at Belknap.
After his death, it appears the family left the county after 1864 and the Elm Creek raid. Their names appear among the roster of names at Fort Davis, in Stephens County, Texas. They are still there in 1870 Stephens County during the census.
