He was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Benton County to the late Philemon L. and Ida Gruber Getz. He married Eileen M. Honegger on Oct. 4, 1959, in Forrest, Il. She survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Susan Waldbeser (husband: Thomas) of Palmetto, Ga.; two sons, Edward Getz of Morton, Il. and Douglas Getz of Chalmers; three sisters, Lucille Steffen of Francesville, Kathryn Beer of Milford and Marilyn Bahler (husband: Elmer) of Wolcott; two brothers, Eldon Getz (wife: Charlene) of Wolcott and Ronald Getz (wife: Jean) of Lafayette and five grandchildren, Drew, Elise, Cheree, Ashlyn and Wynn.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Medical Corp. during the Korean War.
