Joseph G. Blair, 65
Joseph G. Blair, 65, of Waynesburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 11 at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington.
A native of Lincoln County, he was born Sept. 27, 1941 to the late Gilmore and Julia Stickler Blair. He was a former teacher, principal, and superintendent in the Lincoln County School System, taught in Vine Grove and Hardin County, was of the Baptist faith, a member of Lincoln Lodge #60 F & AM and the Kentucky and Lincoln County Beef Cattle Associations, and received honors for serving on Gov. Wallace Wilkinson's Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and the Commission on Federal Funding for Education Chapter 2.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita Allen Blair of Waynesburg; one son, Joseph Gilmore (Jan Rose) Blair, Jr. of Waynesburg; and one brother, Landis Ray Blair of Waynesburg.
Funeral services were Sept. 14 at the Spurlin Funeral Home in Stanford with Rev. David Gambrel officiating. Burial was in St. Sylvester Catholic Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Stuart Underwood, Jimmy Hazlett, Mike Candler, Larry Lewis, Clinton Sims, Shannon Hatter, Harold McLaren, and Bob Duff. Honorary pallbearers were Kenny Allen, David Allen, Doug Shilot, Mike Shilot, John Sims, Tom Blankenship, and Ralph Roberts.
