DE BORGIA PIONEER PASSES
Mrs. Edward L. Brennan of DeBorgia passed away February 8 in the local hospital after an illness of several weeks. Funeral services were held from the Mary Queen church in Superior and interment made in the DeBorgia cemetery. A rosary was recited Sunday at the church. Rev. Ernest Burns celebrated requiem high mass. Geraghty's Funeral Home was in charge of the remains.
Effie Jane Whitmarsh was born in Moorhead, Minnesota November 25, 1882. She moved to what is now Mineral county in 1895 and observed her golden anniversary August 24, 1958.
The couple owned and operated a store and post office while rearing their five children.
Survivors include the widower, daughters; Mrs. Clifford Morris of Kennewick, Washington, Mrs. Jewel Breakey and Mrs. Helen Rydell of Spokane, Jack of Tucson, Arizona and Edward, Jr. of DeBorgia, and 12 grandchildren and 3 great-grand children.
Tributes were made in the form of contributions to the special equipment fund of the Mineral Hospital.
Pallbearers were Jack Byrne, Clarence Coyle, John Ballas and Charles Foster of Missoula, George Cook of DeBorgia and Hugh Whinnery of Spokane. (published 15 Feb 1962 - The Mineral Independent)
