Local funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Lynn Wiley Wyatt, 58, of Healdton is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at Alexander Funeral Chapel in Wilson, Okla. with Cross Timbers Hospice Chaplain Denise Balmer officiating. Out of town services will be held Thursday in Eldorado, Arkansas with interment at Smyrna Cemetery with Dr. Dan Williams officiating. Services are under the care and direction of Alexander Funeral Home in Wilson.
Joyce was born January 24, 1951, in Alexandria, La. to the late Mr. Rowdell and Mrs. Lois Elaine (Nash) Snowden. She departed this life Wed. June 24, 2009, at Healdton, Okla.
Joyce was raised in Alexandria, La. She graduated high school there and later attended LSU in Monroe, graduating from there as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Afterwards she received her Master's Degree in gerontology as well as Bachelors in Marketing from The Nazarene University in Oklahoma City. The majority of her nursing skills were utilized as a Nursing Home Administrator for several nursing centers including Wilson, Healdton and Ardmore, Okla. She had established the first ever in Louisiana, Aids/HIV Hospice Nursing Home in Pineville, La. She also held a seat on the State of Louisiana Board of HIV Awareness.
She and Mr. Bruce W. Wyatt were united in marriage April 18, 2007, at Gainesville, Texas. They worked as over the road truck drivers together and resided at Healdton, Okla. Joyce loved driving and while at home enjoyed baking and having her many animal buddies. She deeply cared for all of her patients while being in the nursing industry and will be remembered always for her kind heart and generosity to others.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rowdell Snowden and Lois (Nash) Snowden.
Survivors include her devoted husband, Bruce Wyatt of Healdton, son Wesley Wiley of Larto, La., sisters, J'Nell Davis and husband Billy Ray of Ruston, La. and Lisa Giddings and husband Robbie of Pineville, La., aunt who was like another mother, Pauline Morrison of Alexandria, La. and a very best friend , Joy Gonzales and husband Caesar of Healdton and numerous other family and friends.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray Davis, Robbie Giddings, Brandon Davis, Chris Davis, Brian Davis and Matt Davis.
Honorary Bearers will be past co-nurses and the nurses and staff of Cross Timbers Hospice in Ardmore, Okla.
Memorial contributions may be sent to Cross Timbers Hospice at 207 C. St SW, Ardmore, OK 73401.
Local Family visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home in Wilson.
