Reverend Walter J. Scott passed away May 30, 2011 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte . He was born to James W. and Muriel (Stearns) Scott of Syracuse, New York. He was raised in and and he joined the United States Air Force in 1970 and served twice in .He graduated from I. U. with an associate's degree in the Performing Arts and U.S.A.F. Academy with an associate's degree in Church Business Administration. He later attended Ogle Thorpe University with a BS in Social Work and an MSW from Syracuse University , and later attended Columbia Theological Seminary, in Decatur, . He was an Associated Minister in the Presbyterian U.S. and was an ordained Deacon in the Christian Church. He left Ministerial work and was a genealogist and drove for the Dashabout Shuttle Services.
Survivors include his ex-wives, Alica Collier, Sandra Russell, Wanda Morgan, Diana Goodell and the love of his life, Alice Hendricks; six step-sons; and his son Gary Scott Russell; sister, Carol Lynn Restey of Syracuse; sister-in-laws, Ann (Emmett) Dunlap of Thousand Oaks, CA and Dorthy Rathbun of Wolcott, New York; brother-in-law, Charles (Barbara) Grimsley of Syracuse, New York.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mailie; and his parents. A memorial service will be Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at the Episcopal Church of Our Savior with the Reverend Jeffrey Nelson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Episcopal Church Niche, with full military honors.
Register book signing will be Thursday, Friday and Monday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home, which is in charge of the arrangements.
