Hugh Dixon, was the son of A.C. "Gus" Dixon and Elizabeth "Betty" J. Powell-Dixon. Hugh was born May 3, 1885 in Melbourne. He married Leta Byler, Jan 9, 1910 and moved to Mt. Olive. Leta was born Mar 30, 1890. Born to them Powell Byler Dixon, June 16, 1911, E. Rudolph Dixon, Dec. 29, 1916, and others including Edw. Hugh Dixon Jr. Powell married Lillie L. Smith. Obituary: Jan 23, 1953 – Edward Hughes Dixon Dies at Newport - Edward Hughes Dixon aged 68 of Newport died at his home at that place Tuesday, following an illness of several weeks. He had been a resident of Newport for five years. A native of Izard County he was born at Melbourne, where he spent his early like. He was a resident of Mt. Olive for about 45 years before moving to Newport. He formerly was engaged in the mercantile business at Boswell and Mt. Olive and was also engaged in farming and dealing in livestock. He was married to Miss Leta Alley of Mountain Home who survives him. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Powell B. and Rudolph Dixon of Newport and two brothers, Harry Dixon of Melbourne and Clyde Dixon of Boswell. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in Newport, with Rev. Guy C. Ames and Rev. J. R. Stogsdill officiating. Burial was at Newport. - Calico Rock Progress, Calcio Rock, Arkansas.
