"John Sheldon of Canby was instantly killed on the 12th of August 1915 by being thrown from a wagon, his head striking a rock. He was 54 years old."
The above was taken from the Lassen Advocate dated August 1915.
Could be the son of Hezekiah Bull Sheldon (see memorial no. 72447153). The numbers are right but there is no proof yet.
11/19/2014: The death certificate proves he is NOT the son of H. B. Sheldon.
Following is from death certificate:
Father: James Sheldon of Ohio; Maiden name of mother: Jennie James of Missouri; Occupation: ranch hand; was a widower; had lived at Canby for about 4 years; cause of death was a fall from a wagon in a runaway. He was buried in Orland on about August 15, 1915.
Age: 54 years, 4 months, 26 days.
His mother, Mrs. Jennie Sheldon, certified to this information.
The writer is unable to find a burial for him in Orland.
