|Death: ||Mar. 19, 1917|
THE FOLLOWING WAS SUBMITTED BY BARBARA STRENGTH. I CHECK THE NEWSPAPER FOR AN OBIT FOR THE DATE LISTED ON THE MARKER AND THERE WAS NOT ONE FOR THE WEEK FOLLOWING THE DATE. I AGREE WITH BARBARA ON HER FINDINGS.
Lucinda Sylvania Cagle married JOSIAH Grogan on July 1, 1860, and three weeks later was shown living in the Grogan house with Josiah and his parents and siblings.
Josiah joined Co. K 38th Georgia Infantry Regiment in Decatur, DeKalb County, Georgia on September 26, 1861.
His two brothers Gideon and Joseph- joined March 8, 1862
Gideon and JOSEPH were killed at the Battle of Sharpsburg.
Census records from 1860 until 1910 show Josiah and Lucinda [or Sylvania] living in the Oak Grove district of Fulton County, Georgia. There are several discrepancies concerning the family, but not enough mistakes to make me want to toss my theory completely.
The obituary found in The Atlanta Constitution on March 20, 1917, page 12
J.T. Grogan, 80 died Monday afternoon at his home in Buckhead. Surviving him are three children Mrs. F.N. Lindsey and Wesley and Henry Grogran.
NOTE TO OBIT WESLEY AND HENRY ARE ACTUALLY WERE HIS BROTHERS NOT HIS CHILDREN
