Clinton W. Allen, 64, of 314 Arkansas Street, died unexpectedly early Monday morning, January [sic February] 18, 1980 at Gretna, Louisiana.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Southern Funeral Home with Reverend W. R. Gage officiating. Burial will follow at the Allen Cemetery on Highway 84 East.

The deceased was a native of Winnfield, presently living in Gretna, Louisiana and working at Belle Chasse. He had been employed by Brown & Root Construction Company since 1952 as an accountant and had worked at various locations. He entered military service in 1941 and served in the Pacific during World War II until 1945, retiring with the rank of major. He served as Commander of the local National Guard unit and remained with the Army Reserves until 1964. He served three terms as Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars organization and was State Commander of Cootie, the honorary degree unit of the V. F. W. He was a member of the Winnfield First Baptist Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Melanie [sic Melonea] Walker Allen; one son, Kendall Allen; one daughter, Mrs. Angel Martin; one granddaughter, Tara Allen; and two brothers and two sisters.

Among the out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral of Clinton W. Allen on Thursday, February 21, 1980 were Charles K. Allen and Mark of Baton Rouge; Louise Williams, Dale Weeks, Elmer P. Lamkin, S. J. Babin, and Brian Maynard, all of Belle Chasse; Douglas Weeks and Ralph Babcock of Gretna; Mr. and Mrs. Johnny L. Brown of Jonesboro; Mr. and Mrs. Randall Bordelon of Alexandria; Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Duncan of Boyce; Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Duncan of Dry Prong; Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Franks Sicily Island; and Mrs. Belinda Gryder and Paula Gryder.

Pallbearers were Judge Hiram Wright, Mayor Kenneth "Jack" Henderson, Pat Harrell, Marvin Harrell, Dewey Hammonds, and Clifford Long.

Honorary pallbearers were Brown & Root employees from Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
