Rev. T. Wayne Larson, a resident of Houston, died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, Wis.
The funeral service was held Monday, at Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Houston, with the Rev. David Wiersbe officiating. Burial was in the Bethany Evangelical Free Cemetery in Houston.
Wayne was born July 22, 1932, in Onamia, to Tenny and Dorothy (Orton) Larson. He was raised in Onamia and graduated from Onamia High School. Wayne graduated from St. Paul Bible College. On Aug. 8, 1953, he married Ruth Leander in Onamia. Wayne worked as a pastor all of his career serving churches in Hubbard, Cable, Wis., Swanville, Long Prairie,
Shoreview, Oconto Falls – Suring, Wis., and for the last 18-1/2 years at Bethany Evangelical Free Church in Houston. In his spare time, Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; four children, Pat (Jim) Henkel of Greeley, Colo., Lori (Larry) Dowell of Mendota Heights, David (Susan) Larson of Long Prairie and Susie Smith of Eagan; 13 great-grandchildren, Bradley and Lee Henkel, Bethany (Mike) Smits, Jodi and Preston (Stephanie) Dowell, Jordan, Erin, Chloee and Sophie Larson, Skye, T.J., and Cody Smith, and Jamie (Mark) Jensen; one great-grandchild, Evan; one brother, Grant Larson, and one sister, Eunice Leander both of Red Wing.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
