Sam Gilkey, 60, of Caldwell County, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, at 7:30 p.m. on the family farm on Hwy. 293 N., in an accident.
Born Oct. 10, 1948, in Caldwell County, a son of the late George and Jane Pierce Gilkey, he was a member of Sugar Creek Baptist Church, an engineer at Kentucky State Penitentiary and a Vietnam veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Dale Morse Gilkey; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Scott and Tina Gilkey of Lancaster, Calif., and Shane Gilkey of Princeton; a stepdaughter, Charity Dale Cullen and husband Chris of Princeton; a granddaughter, Ashley Gilkey of Florida; a stepgrandson,Canaan Cullen of Princeton; a brother, Steve Gilkey of Lyon County; and two sisters, Sharon Oliver of Princeton and Sandy Dunn of Lyon County.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 9, at 1 p.m. at Morgan's Funeral Home in Princeton, with the Rev. Jerry Holeman officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Church Cemetery in Caldwell County, with military graveside services.
