Mr. Sam Boutwell died Suddenly Saturday morning at his home several miles east
of Tifton, in the Harding section.
Although he had been afflicted a long time, Mr. Boutwell was apparently in his
usual health Friday, when he and his daughter were in Tifton. Mr. Boutwell was
about seventy years old and was a Confederate veteran. He served during the war
with the 66th Georgia.
Mr. Boutwell was the father of six children, Mrs. Fareby Johns, Mrs. Will
Thompson, Mrs. Molly Abbott, Mrs. J. D. McAllister and Miss Minnie Boutwell, who
lived with him. His son, Jack Boutwell, died a few years ago.
Mr. Boutwell was a member of the Missionary Baptist church. He was buried at
Liberty church Sunday, Pastor Thompson conducting the services.
