Resident of Concord Peter H. Hirano, 80, of Concord died June 11, 2008 in Walnut Creek. Mr. Hirano was born in Kingsburg, CA and was a 50-year resident of Concord. Peter served with the U.S. Army and was a member of University of California Alumni Association, Japanese American Club, Concord Bocce Federation, Concord Senior Citizens and Concord Seniors Golf Group. In 1958 Peter became a Planner for the City of Concord and retired after 30 years as Planning Director in 1988. Peter is survived by his wife of 45 years, Ruth M. Hirano; sons and daughter-in-law, David and Reen Hirano and Christopher Hirano. He was predeceased by his sister, Yoshiko Shintaku; brothers, Yutaka Hirano, Kiyoshi Hirano, Sandy Hirano and Olie Hirano. Memorial Service will be Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 2:00PM at Mt. Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church, 55 Eckley Lane, Walnut Creek, CA. Memorials in Peter's name may be made to Hospice Foundation of the East Bay, 3470 Buskirk Ave., Pleasant Hill, CA 94523, or to the Building Fund of the Japanese American Club, 3165 Treat Blvd., Concord, CA 94518.
