"Wm. Marquardt, one of the prominent pioneers of the county, died at his home in Erhard at 6:10 Monday evening at the age of 86 years. Death was due to internal cancer.
Mr. Marquardt was born in Posen, Germany, in 1847, and came to America in 1881. He resided for a short time in Wisconsin and was a pioneer citizen of the town of Maplewood. He also resided for a short time in Carlisle township. He retired from farming and moved into Erhard about 17 years ago, making his home there since.
He was married to Minnie Splittgerber 62 years ago and is survived by his wife and the following children:, August of Elizabeth; Emelia Bellin of Neenah, Wis.; Charlie Marquardt of Erhard; Bertha Tweet, Erhard; Annie Rogers, Erhard; Wm. Marquardt, Erhard; and Tillie Wehner, Fairmount, N.D. One daughter, Mrs. Minnie Bellin of Erie, N.D., died in 1923. He is also survived by 37 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at one o'clock at the home in Erhard, and at two o'clock in the Swedish Lutheran church in Elizabeth. Rev. Benjamin R. Bauman, will officiate."
Although I can find no stone for William, his death record states that he was to be buried at Boot Hill Cemetery.
