Mrs. Wilhelmina Asmus died at her home in Long Prairie Township Thursday, May 3. Death was due to Bright’s disease and she had been ill nine weeks. The funeral was held Sunday, May 6, from the Lutheran Church of the township. Rev. E. U. Meichsner officiating and the internment was in the cemetery of that church. Mrs. Asmus’ maiden name was Wilhelmina Berndt and she was born in Germany. She came to the United States in 1889, coming directly to Todd County. She had been married in 1891 to Siegfried Asmus. Since coming to this community, they have lived on their farm in Long Prairie Township. She is survived by her husband and the following children: William, Otto, Ernest, Mrs. William Quade and Mrs. Henry Quade. Mrs. Asmus was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Marriage Certificate: She was the daughter of Anton Berndt and Friederike nee Fuhlbrügge. They were married on January 14, 1881 in Persanzig, Neustettin, Pommern, Prussia.
They immigrated to America aboard the SS Gothia leaving the Port of Hamburg, Germany and arriving in the Port of Baltimore, Maryland on June 1, 1889.
Bright's disease: Chronic inflammation of the blood vessels in the kidney with protein, specifically albumin, in the urine.
