OBITUARY provided by Ellen Sorenson
on January 5, 2013:

On September 5, 1951, in Shakopee, MN, Donald Walter was born to parents, Walter and LaVerne (Kreuser) Beuch. The second of six children, Don's childhood years were spent growing up on the family farm in Lydia. A member of the 4H, he and his sibling enjoyed showing animals. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1969.

Working side by side with his dad and brothers, Don loved milking the cows, doing the daily chores and tending to the crops. From 1980-1986, he was the owner/operator of Beuch and Sons Dairy Farm. Working odd jobs throughout his life, Don spent almost 25 years working at K-Mart Distribution Center in Shakopee.

He was blessed with four children, Mathew, Andrew, Gena and Jacob. Through the years, family was most important to him. Don enjoyed playing catch, watching the Brewers, going to the movies and showing cows at the county fair, with his children. They also enjoyed bird hunting and fishing. Don relished being a grandpa and taking explorations on the farm.

Enjoying the outdoors, Don loved taking long walks, watching birds and driving the country back roads. He also liked taking care of his grapevines, apple trees and flowers. He cherished anything related to the old farm tractors, with a special love for Olivers. Don enjoyed listening to old time music and watching old westerns, especially the "Wild, Wild West Shows". If you read the Jordan Independent, he was one of the individuals responsible for the section called, "Looking Back". Don was also instrumental with researching and creating the first historical book of Lydia, which is still in progress. He wanted to make sure the small town of Lydia's memory will remain alive.

An active member of the community, Don served on the board of the Scott County Historical Society, Scott County Planning and Zoning, Spring Lake Township Board. He was a life-long member of the St. John the Baptist Church and served four years on the Scott County Historical Society.

A thoughtful, caring and sensitive dad, grandpa and brother, Don loved to strike up a conversation with anyone.

The afternoon of Thursday, January 3, 2013, Don passed away unexpectedly, at the age of 61, at St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Shakopee. He was a resident of Lydia.

He will be deeply missed and remembered always by those who loved Don, by children, Mathew (Jennifer) Beuch of Waconia, Andrew (Laura) Beuch of Waconia, Gena Beuch of Lydia, Jacob Beuch of Lydia; grandchildren, Alexander, Aidan, Emily and Annika Beuch; sister, JoAnn Beuch of Lydia; brothers, Roger (Kris) Beuch of Jordan, Edward (Jan) Beuch of Prior Lake, Francis (Colleen) Beuch of Lydia; other loving relatives and devoted friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard. Pall bearers for Don will be his children, Mathew, Andrew, Gena and Jacob; brother, Edward; nephew, Ben and niece, Grace.
