Funeral services for Barbara Jean Cowan, 52, of Broken Arrow were held on Monday, January 25 at the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove. A private family graveside held at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove. Barbara passed away Thursday at her home in Broken Arrow.
Barbara was born August 23, 1947 in St Louis, Missouri to Wilbert and Geneva (Thurman) Norris. She grew up and attended school in St. Louis until the 8th Grade then moved to Pryor.
She and Terry Cowan were married on December 21, 1980 in Pryor.
Barbara was a homemaker, who loved taking care of her husband, kids and grandkids more than anything. Barbara loved the Lord, she was once the assistant pastor at His Way Christian Fellowship in Locust Grove as well as a past member of the Salina Assembly of God Church. She was a currently attending the Three Angels Seventh-day Adventist Church in Owasso. Barbara enjoyed making crafts and knitting in her spare time and also enjoyed traveling with her family, but most of all loved spending time with her 7 precious grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.
Survivors include: Husband- Terry of the home 1 son- Alex Cowan and wife Lacey of Spavinaw 5 daughters- Michelle Graves of Chouteau Katrina Cortese and husband Matt of Claremore Lorri, Erin, and Jessica Cowan, all of the home 7 Grandchildren- Brittany Graves; Mason and Maddox Cowan; Maddie and Isaac Moore and Hailey and Nate Cortese and Father- Wilbert Norris of Herman, MO Stepfather- Kenneth Thurman of Pryor Special friend and caregiver- Karla Scott 2 Brothers- Kevin Thurman and wife Lorilynne of Ft. Leonard Wood, MO Keith Thurman and wife Reisha of Shreveport,LA 2 Aunts- Betty Harbin and husband James of St. Anne, MO Glenda Cook and husband Jimmy of Dexter,MO Many other special family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother and 1 brother, Jimmy Norris.
