Wake services for former Hughes County resident, Julia Ann Harjo, 71, are to be held at 7:00 PM, Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Glorieta Baptist Church, 7308 S. Western Ave, in Oklahoma City. Funeral services are to be held on Friday, October 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at McCosar Family Cemetery in Holdenville, Oklahoma with Graveside services to begin at 3:00 PM under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers are Donnie Ahaitty, Woody Kinney, Bob Barker, Tom Levi, Ralph Hamblin, and Walter Hayes. Honorary pallbearers are John Mateo, George Poolaw, Sr., Randy Jones, Noe Reys, C.R. Falls, and Mitchell Fish. Julia Ann Harjo was born July 29th, 1939 in Holdenville, Oklahoma. She passed away October 11th, 2010 in Oklahoma City at the age of 71 years, two months, and 12 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas B. Harjo and Mary (Gooden) Harjo; her grandparents, Katie (McCosar) Gooden and George Gooden; two aunts, Annie Gooden and Janet Jones;and three uncles, Willie Gooden, Daniel Gooden, and Abraham Gooden. Survivors are her sister and loving caregiver, Darlene Harjo, of the home; a host of cousins, friends, and other family. Julia was baptized at a young age at Indian Southern Baptist Church in Wichita, Kansas. She served at the church pianist from 1967 until 2008 and enjoyed singing in the choir. Julia worked for 36 years with the General Adjustment Bureau as a Claims Adjustor; she enjoyed music, church and her church family.
