Missoula, Mont. — John Ferris Deskins, 60, passed away of natural causes on Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, in his home.
John was born in Oklahoma City, Okla., on Jan. 23, 1948, to Herbert "Earl" Deskins and Marybelle Maxwell (both buried at this cem.), daughter of Perry Duke Maxwell and Ray Woods (both buried at this cem.). John grew up in Ardmore, Okla., along with his older sister Dora and younger brother James.
John graduated from the International School of Geneva, Switzerland, then attended the University of Denver where he met his wife Nancy.
He is survived by his wife, and two sons, Morgan (Christy), Aaron (Jessica), four grandchildren, his brother, sister and several other relatives. John was preceded in death by both parents.
John's professional pursuits centered on oil and gas exploration, land management and surveying. Oil exploration in the early 80s brought John to western Montana where he fell in love with the mountains and outdoor lifestyle.
John's remains will be interred for eternity along with his parents and extended family in the Deskins Maxwell family cemetery at the Dornick Hills Country Club in Ardmore, Okla.
