Born 04 Apr 1744. Married Elizabeth Stewart 14 Mar 1775 and had 10 children. He was the son of Samuel Harrod (b. 1696 in Bedfordshire, England) and Jemima Sherwood. Lived in Harrodsburg, Kentucky and served under the famous James Harrod who settled Harrodsburg. Served in the revolutionary war, enlisting in 1774 in Captain James Harrod;s command at Mercer County, Kentucky. In July, 1779, John Bowman and 160 Kentuckians marched against the Chillicothe Indians. James Harrod led one wing in this action. Was in Logan's Command in the Ohio Campaign in 1780, Pvt. James Harrod of Lincoln County, Kentucky, Militia.
