Daniel Duane Leichty, 81, of Wayland died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at Henry County Health Center in Mount Pleasant.
Born March 22, 1931, in Wayland, he was the son of Willard R. And Ruth Augsburger Leichty. On Aug. 26, 1951, he married Arlene Conrad in rural Wayland.
Mr. Leichty worked as a farmer and was a charter member of Bethel Mennonite Church. He was a graduate of Wayland High School and attended Hesston College in Hesston, Kan. He was a member of the Wayland Area Tractor Club and Winnebego Camping Club. He was an avid Hawkeye fan.
Survivors include one son, Lonnie Leichty of Wayland; one daughter, Lora Stauffer of Burlington; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lowell Leichty of Coralville and Norman Leichty of Trenton; three sisters, Marilyn Roth of Des Moines, Wilma Lichti of Goseh, Ind., and Linda Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son.
