Barbara J. Hansen, 50, Country Estates, Burlington, died Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 8, 2009, at Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa.
The former Barbara Jean Peters was born on July 1, 1959, in Elkhorn, the daughter of Harold and Mary Trout Peters. On Nov. 22, 1986, in Lake Geneva, she married Gary Hansen. They lived in Lake Geneva until they moved to Lyons Township 17 years ago.
Barbara graduated from Badger High School in 1977. She worked as a waitress at the Hunter Country Club in Richmond, Ill., and then Fazio's Restaurant in Lake Geneva. She also worked as a packer for Klockit in Lake Geneva.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church ELCA in Lake Geneva. She enjoyed quilting at the church and crocheting.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Gary; a son, John W., Burlington; her mother, Mary (Russell) Eggemeyer, Chester, Ill.; two sisters, Polly (Scot) Rathbun, Rhinelander, and Debbie (Gary) Babieczko, Marquette, Mich.; and four brothers, Jerry (DeAnn) Peters, Las Vegas, Nev., Tom (Simone) Peters, St. Robert, Mo., Gene (Christina) Peters, Lake Geneva, and Rick (Cheryl) Feurhammer, Percy, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harold Peters.
Funeral services at 11 a.m., Monday, Sept. 14, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Lake Geneva, with the Rev. Mary Ann Moller-Gunderson officiating. Interment in Bloomfield Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Haase-Derrick-Lockwood Funeral Home, Lake Geneva, and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Quilting Ladies at the church or the Multiple Myeloma Foundation, 583 Main Ave., 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT, 06851.
