Herbert D. Lehmann, 93, of Sebago died Monday, October 8 at Bridgton Hospital. He was born in Middletown, CT. on October 19, 1918 the son of Frank and Lillie Emmons Lehmann. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1936. He served in the U. S. Army, 42nd Rainbow Division during World War II. He married Gladys H. May in 1954, together they shared 52 years of a loving and happy marriage. Herbert was a clerk/mail carrier in the Cromwell, CT. post office and a salesman at Davis Lumber in Middletown, CT. He served as Adjutant and Commander of Cromwell American Legion Post #105. They moved to Maine in 1967 where he worked for L. C. Andrews in South Windham as a salesman and store manager and at Gendron's Lumber and Hardware on Warren Avenue in Portland. Later he did janitorial work for the Sebago Town Office and for the Sebago Center Community Church as well as being handyman. The church has a shed in the back named ‘Herb's Hideaway'. He was clerk and a member of the Sebago Center Community Church, a member of the Maple Grove Grange #148 where he served as Master and other offices, and a member of the 50+ Club in Baldwin. He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie M. Snow and her husband James of Sebago: two sisters-in-law, Shirley Labbe of Cromwell, CT. and Joyce Burke and husband Ross of Colebrook, CT.; three grandchildren, Mark Snow and wife Rosemary of Casco, Glenn Snow of Sebago and Neal Snow and Dean Haspela of Dorchester, MA.; and 4 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys on May 17, 2006; and a sister, Marjorie Geer.
