A retired educator, librarian, and alumnus of Duke University, she was an avid gardner, and book lover.
Virginia was born May 16, 1917, in Brooklyn, NY, and grew up in Westfield, NJ., before settling in western NC.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, Harry Mac Connell and Ester Van Slyck Leon, her husband Arlee Barrier: and survived by, her daughter Lynda Rhem Lineberry, a son Grayson Leon Waldrop, a sister Henrietta Parker, and her daughter Deborah Parker, as well as 3 grandchildren, Kirk Robert Lundell, Stacey Lundell Barnes, and Matthew Van Slyck Waldrop.
A visitation will be held at Virginia's home Friday, April 12, from 6-8 PM.
Graveside services will be held at the George W Barrier Cemetery, Saturday, April 13, at 3:00 PM.
A memorial sevice will be conducted at the Pineola Presbyterian Church at 4:00 PM, following the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pineola Presbyterian Church, or library of your choice.
