DECATUR - Ruth E. Allen, 90, of Decatur died 5:19 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 24, 2003) in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in East Frantz Cemetery, Cerro Gordo.
Ruth was born June 27, 1913, in Decatur, the daughter of G. Murray and Leita Potter Morris. She was employed as an executive secretary at Linn & Scruggs Department Store, later at Crum Distributing Co. and retired from Rusk TV & Appliance as office manager. She was an avid bowler, participating in many tournaments across the United States, and was past president of Decatur Women's Bowling Association. She most recently began knitting afghans. She married Duane Wayne Allen on Feb. 1, 1943, in St. Louis, Mo.
Surviving are her husband; daughter, Myrna Quinlan of Decatur; grandson, Tim Quinlan and wife Sherry of Bethany; great-granddaughter, Amber Quinlan; great-grandson, Dalton Quinlan; special friend, Sue Atteberry.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
