Mildred L. Birckel, 79, a long time Quinton, OK resident, passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011 in Ft. Smith, AR. She was born July 14, 1931 in Stigler, OK to Lester and Rosa (Patterson) Wigington. Mildred grew up at Stigler and Quinton, graduating from Quinton High School with the Class of '51. She and Clarence Birckel were united in marriage April 19, 1952 and made their home in Quinton, Tulsa area and Cushing for many years. In 1998 they moved to Stigler. Mildred loved painting, sewing, arts and crafts. She was a member of the Quinton Church of Christ. Her most favorite thing to do was to spend time with and take care of her family. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by two sons, Rodney Birckel and wife Regina of Younger Bend, Randy Birckel and wife Jo Ann of Quinton; six grandchildren, Amanda, Ragan, Matthew, Nicolas, Nicole and Caden; six great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Blaine, Kresna, Jasmine, Morrison and Jiaya; two sisters, Barbara Robertson and husband Ed of Downey, CA; Peggy Montagna of San Pedro, CA; one brother-in-law, Herman Medlock of Holdenville; numerous nephew, nieces, cousins and other relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Birckel; one brother, Murrell Wigington and one sister, Wilma Medlock. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, April 3, 2011 at the Stigler Church of Christ with Minister David Smith officiating and Minister Larry Poindexter will be the Eulogist. Pallbearers will be Matthew Birckel, Nick Birckel, Mark Tucker, Caden Birckel, Zane Box, Mark Lemons, Sr. and Herman Medlock. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wayne Simpson, Bobby Simpson, Jim Simpson, Pete Evans and Edward Robertson. Burial will follow at the Milton Cemetery, near McCurtain, under the direction of King & Shearwood Funeral Home of Stigler.
