LAURA BLACK

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. at Diamond Lake Church, Lake Benton, Saturday, June 26th for Laura Black, who passed away Thursday, June 24th very suddenly at Vadheim Memorial hospital.

Pastor Ejnar Farstrup of Danebod Lutheran Church, Tyler, officated at the service. Mrs. Bessie Johansen was the organist. Maren Nielsen and Christine Jorgensen took care of the flowers. Pallbearers were Johannes Andersen, John Weber, Elmer Petersen, Harold Simonsen, Merle Hanson and Roy Yonker

Interment was in Diamond Lake Cemetery.

Laura Margrethe Black, Daughter of Eiler Thomsen and Hanne Marie Klitz, was born November 14th, 1886 in Diamond Lake Township. She attended country school at District 16 in Diamond Lake Township, where she grew up.

After marriage to Henry Black, December 30th, 1914 at the Rasmus Black home, they farmed in Diamond Lake. She was a Sunday School teacher for several years, a good neighbor and loved small children. Upon retirement in 1962 they moved to Lake Benton. She was a member of Diamond Lake Lutheran Church and later Grace Lutheran Church, Lake Benton, A.L.C.

She had attained the age of 84 years, seven months and 10 days.

Left to mourn her passing are her sister, Mrs. Hanne Krog; a brother, Viggo Thomsen, Lemmon SD. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry, Feb. 18, 1964.

Relatives attending funeral services from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Edmund Brown and Julie of Wheaton; Mr. Earl Jensen, Blomkest; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tellinghuisen, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tellinghuisen, Mr. and Mrs. James Tellinghuisen, all of Watertown, SD.; and Elmer Jensen, Tyler. Friends attending were; Mrs. James Andersen, Mrs. Janice Nielsen, Elizabeth Whingelby, all of Minneapolis; Mrs. Erna Nielsen, Mrs. Marie holm, Mrs. H.T. Melgaard, Mrs. Agnes Norgaard, Mrs. Ceal Lund, Mrs. Dora Pedersen, Mrs Gudren Nielsen, Miss Eva Whingelby, Mrs. A.E. Farstrup and Jens Jaspersen, all of Tyler
