Carl Stacy, 84, of Hoyt Lakes, Minn., died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, at his daughter's home in Spooner.
Carl was born on September 26, 1926, in Iaeger, W. V., to Lee and Pearl (Lockhart) Stacy. Carl served in the United States Marine Corps during the World War II period.
On December 20, 1952, he married Marian in Huntington Park, Calif. He apprenticed and worked at Lockheed in California before moving to Minnesota to farm. In 1966, he started work as a machinist at Erie Mining Company in Hoyt Lakes.
He retired from Erie in 1989, and began spending winters in Mission, Texas, something he did for the next 20 years. Carl was a loving family man and enjoyed golf, photography, woodworking, bicycling, and playing all games. He was a member of various bicycling clubs, and the VFW.
Carl is survived by his daughters, Colleen (Robert) Crunstedt of Savage, Minn., Lynn (Allan) Hedin of Lake Geneva, and Julie (David) Rankila of Spooner; six grandchildren, Ashley and Kelsey Crunstedt, Kenneth Carl and Heather Hedin, and Abby and Ryan Rankila; two great-grandchildren, Kevin and Kristel; brother, Don Stacy, of Iaeger, W.V.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; parents; and brothers and sisters, Lois, Charles, Grace, Herbert, Agnes, and John.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 8, at Faith Lutheran Church in Hoyt Lakes, Minn. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Military honors will be accorded at the church prior to the service.
A spring interment is planned at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church of Big Sandy Cemetery in McGregor, Minn.
