Reno Cavallini of Fort Bragg died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at his home, following a brief illness. Born on Jan. 15, 1913 in Irmulco, Calif., he was 91.
Services were held on Nov. 20 and entombment was at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Ukiah. A prayer service was held with family and friends. His family moved to Fort Bragg when he was three. He attended school in Fort Bragg and after graduating worked for a short time for Safeway. He also worked in the Union Lumber Co.'s planing mill for two years before joining the Army Air Corps. During World War II, Reno served his country as a member of the 445th Bombardment Squadron of the 57th Bomb Wing, 12th Air Force. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star, and Distinguished Unit Badge, with oak leaf cluster. Upon returning to civilian life, Reno worked for A. Paladini as general manager for 35 years.
