Mother to Scheil (Simon -1892), Meier (Meyer -1896), Schmuel (Samunel -1899), Moische (Morris - 1900), Ida B. (1908), and Phillip Berman (1909).

Sister-in-law to Reisel Bermann (1887), and others unknown but not forgotten.

Chana Kaplan was born in Dubrovista, (Dombrovitza), Lutsk, Volhynia, Russian Empire, (now part of the Ukraine).

At age 34, Chana leaves her home in Dombrovitza, with, a youthful sister-in-law, and four (4) young sons, for the trip of 900 miles to their port of departure from the continent.

Sailing the "North German Line" from Bremen, Germany to Baltimore, Maryland, they arrive on 31 May 1906, via the SS MAIN, (3rd class passage).

It is Chana's husband who awaits the arrival of the family in Baltimore. Herschel Bermann had emmigrated from Russia short years before, with a goal of working / saving money to sponsor his family's passage to America.

NOTE: Chana's (and others) given name are anglicized after immigration, (from yiddish to english).

CHANA BERMANN is now known as ANNA BERMAN.
