Grandmother of Elvis Presley. Minnie Mae Hood was born in Fulton, Itawamba County, Mississippi, to William and Mary (Warren) Hood. She married Jessie D. McClowell Presley in 1913. They had one child, Vernon Elvis Presley. After Elvis' mother died, Minnie and Vernon went to Germany and rented a house close to the base where Elvis was stationed. He wanted his family near him in their time of grief. Elvis loved his grandmother very much and often talked about her wonderful buttermilk biscuits. She was said to be a very energetic person and hard worker. She died in Memphis at the age of 89.
