William Franklin Baxter
(Bluff Springs Cor.)

William Frankiln (sic) Baxter, on of William F. and Rose Anna Wood Baxter, was born on a farm north of Canton, March 27, 1866, and passed away at the family home in Bluff Springs community August 28, 1941, at the age of 75 years, 5 months and 1 day. He was the last of a family of six children.

Mr. Baxter was married July 22, 1895, to Emma Howard who preceded him in death November 19, 1940. He is survived by their only son, Andrew Baxter, and a grandson, Billy Baxter.

Mr. Baxter had been in failing health for the past year. He spent his entire life in this community.

Funeral services were held at the Bluff Springs church Sunday, Aug., 31, with the Rev. J.R. Shultz, of Wayland, conducting the services. Two songs, "When the Roll is Called Up Yonder, 'meet Me There," were sung by Mrs. Amy Bayne with Mrs. Sue Benning at the piano. The honorary pallbearers were A.G. Barkley, George Ranes, Chas. Sherwood and Robert Carskadon. The active pallbearers were Everett Boulware, Roy Halliburton, Julian Stow, Irwin Dennison, W.H. Mize and T. H. Jacobson. Burial was in the Bluff Springs cemetery.

There was a large attendance at the funeral.

Notes: William's death certificate indicates he died in Rural Lewis County. His obit indicates he died in his home in Bluff Springs, which is listed as Clark County.
