Ruth Palmer Plenty of Cowford Road, Halifax died April 5, 2011 at her home at the age of 96.
Born in Halifax County on March 1, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Moses Palmer and Nannie P. Palmer.
She was married to the late David Young Hosea Plenty and was a member of Banister Hill Baptist Church where she was involved in many church organizations.
Mrs. Plenty is survived by four daughters, Ruth E. Plenty of Halifax, Lillie P. Ross of Richmond, Shirley Wilkins of Alexandria and Annie B. Plenty of Richmond, three sons, David Y. Plenty of Woodbridge, Md., Arthur B. Plenty of Alexandria and Albert H. Plenty of Richmond, a sister, Rebecca Palmer of Halifax, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for Mrs. Plenty will be held Friday, April 8 at 11 a.m. at Banister Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. William F. Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be on Thursday from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at The Crawford House chapel in Halifax. The family will receive friends at the home, 1028 Cowford Road, Halifax.
