Mrs. Bernice "Bunny" E. Armstrong, 83, formerly of 83 Smith Road, Massena, passed away Saturday May 2, 2009 morning at the Highland Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since October 28, 2005. She had been in failing health since 1999.

She was born October 5, 1925 in Elgin, Quebec, the daughter of William and Annabelle Murdock Murray. She attended elementary school in Elgin and Huntingdon Academy. She also attended Cornwall Business School. She married Everett C. "Tex" Armstrong on October 21, 1943 at the home of the bride in Kensington, Quebec with Rev. Woodside, officiating. Mr. Armstrong predeceased her on November 14, 1999.

She was a homemaker and once worked for the Navy Department in Ottawa when she was younger. She was an active member of the Grace United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Ladies Society at the church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and listening to country western music.

Bernice is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Brian Smythe, Massena; two sons, Murray Armstrong and his fiancé , Sheri Saucier, Raymondville and Craig Armstrong and his companion, Gerri Goss, Atlanta, GA; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Austin and Lillian Murray, Huntingdon, Quebec; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Douglas Murray from Louisville, Kentucky; Clifford Murray from Vancouver, British Columbia and Howard Murray from Toronto, Ontario.

Friends may call Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral Home , Massena, where funeral services will be held Thursday 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Tom Davis, officiating. Burial will follow in Massena Center Cemetery.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
