|Death: ||May 14, 1901|
Sarah Ann is the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Livick) McMinn. On the 6th of October 1850 she married Jacob H. Gates in Belpre Township, Washington County, Ohio and very shortly there after they moved to Union Township Clark County, Missouri. They had the following children: Luenetta 1853,
Timothy Joseph 1855, John Harlin 1857, Samuel Adolphus 1863, William David 1865, and Sarah L. 1869. The two girls died in infancy. Luenetta's burial location is unknown. Sarah was a school teacher and I believe she tought at the Union school house as their farm was located next to the town of Wrightville. Wrightville later became the town of Union. After Jacob's death in 1875 she continue to run the farm for several years. She died while on the trail going to or coming from Oklahoma to Nebraska.
The cemetery is over grown and in very poor condition.
Directions to Old Moore Cemetery (also listed as Paul Moore Cemetery).
Going north out of Stillwater, Oklahoma go north on Washington St. approximately 4 miles to Lake McMurtry Road. Turn left or west and go 1 mile to the first gravel county road. Turn north on this road and go 1 mile to the next intersection. The cemetery is in the south west corner of this intersection. It is approximately 100 yards into the weeds. There is a woven wire fence around the cemetery. Sarah is buried approximately in the center of the cemetery. It has not been mowed for a long time so you will need to do some weed stomping to find it.
