Was born in Kingsville, Kleberg County, Texas to Santos Silva, Sr (died 1961). and Maria Abrego Silva (died 1933). Served in the Occupation Forces in Frankfurt, Germany. Was a barber by trade all his life in Zapata, Texas. He was married to Elodia Gutierrez from Zapata, Texas and they both had 3 children: Elvia Silva Cavazos (Hebbronville, TX), Lydia Cuellar (Zapata, TX), and Roberto Silva (San Ignacio, TX). Santos also had 4 brothers: Rodolfo Silva (deceased: Feb. 4, 2002/Alice, TX), Raul Silva (Deceased: Oct. 8, 1988/San Antonio, TX), and Ruben Silva (deceased: Feb. 14, 2002/Pharr, TX). A younger brother, Roberto, twin to Ruben died in 1935 in Salineno, TX. He also had 3 half sisters: Josefina Garcia (Alice, Texas), Herminia Soliz (deceased: Nov. 1987/Alice, Texas), and Manuela Bernal (San Antonio, Texas). Santos was also the Veterans Service Officer for Zapata County for about 10 years where he served various veterans with honor and with diligence.
