The youngest son of James Stewart Anthony & Mary Jane Midkiff Anthony. His mother died when he was just four years old, after the birth of his youngest sister, Hannah. His father, James Stewart died in 1922 leaving him an orphan at age 14.
After the death of his parents, he was taken in by his oldest sister Rosie Anthony Modes. At some point he met the Brandon family, fell in love with their daughter, Mary Elsie and became an important member of the Brandon family unit.
Chick Anthony was a master coal miner. He worked with Peabody Coal Mine Company in Mine #8 at Tovey, Illinois and at the Crown Coal Mine in Farmersville, Illinois, retiring in 1972.
He was also an enthusiastic coon hunter always keeping a hound or two for the purpose.
Chick Anthony loved his wife and his family and grandchildren were an especial joy. He loved to watch them swim and to take them fishing.
He is missed everyday.
