Elk Mountain, Wyo., resident Marion Isabell McCleave Border Grieb died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Iverson Memorial Hospital in Laramie, Wyo., following a brief illness with cancer. She was 67 years old.
Marion was born Aug. 5, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo., to Paul and Hannah (Edwards) McCleave. She was raised in Kansas and Montana, graduating from Bozeman Senior High School in 1958 and Montana State College in 1962.
She taught English at Hobson High School and served as the school librarian. She was the state director of the American Red Cross in Wyoming in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
She married C. Robert Border in Bozeman on June 30, 1960. Marion and Bob served Presbyterian churches in Montana (Harlem and Blackfoot Parish - Seeley Lake, Ovando and Potomac) and Wyoming (Winter Memorial, Casper). They had four children: Timothy Border of Maryville, Tenn.; Robert Border of Hanna, Wyo.; Terrel Border of Lincoln, Neb.; and Joellen Border DeMers of Chugwater, Wyo.
Marion later married the Rev. Ray Grieb in Dixon, Wyo., on July 11, 1985. They retired to Elk Mountain after serving Episcopal churches in Wyoming and Nebraska.
Marion was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed identifying mountain plants, flowers and birds. She was most faithful to her Lord, serving on committees within Glacier Presbytery and the Wyoming Diocese. She was "Marion the Librarian" who was often found reading a book.
She is survived by her husband, Ray Grieb; children: Timothy (Annette); Rob (Teri); Terrel (Alysia); and Joellen; three step-children, Andrew Grieb, Glenn Grieb, and Diana Richardson; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Jody Wills (Sidney) of Potomac; a brother, David "Sunny" McCleave (Debbie) of Albuquerque, N.M.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Paul B. McCleave; her mother, Hannah E. McCleave; and her first husband, the Rev. Bob Border.
Interment took place in St. Matthew's Columbarium in Laramie.
