Doris L. Glatfelter
SEVEN VALLEYS - Doris L. "Nadine" (Bixler) Glatfelter, From York Hospital on Monday, December 15, 2008, at 12 noon, one of earth's angels departed for heaven. She was the loving wife of Philip A. Glatfelter with whom she celebrated 63 years of marriage. She was 81 years young.
Celebration of Doris/Nadine's Life will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenmount United Methodist Church, 4242 Greenmount Church Road, Glen Rock, with her pastor, the Rev. Richard Lowe, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with a gathering immediately following in the church facilities. A viewing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church prior to the service. Memories have been entrusted to the Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock.
Mrs. Glatfelter was born on November 14, 1927, in Hanover, a daughter of the late Wilson and Mary (Bankert) Bixler.
She retired in 1989 from the former AMP, Inc., where she was employed as an Assembler. Following retirement, she was a personal caregiver until the age of 79. Doris was a member of Greenmount United Methodist Church, Glen Rock.
Besides her loving husband, Doris leaves three daughters, Judy Weaver and her husband, John of York, Joan Marchio and her late husband, Joe Marchio of Glen Rock, and Joy Glatfelter-Jones and her husband, Greg Niblock of Glen Rock; six sons, James Glatfelter and his wife, Patricia of Dover, Jay Glatfelter of Dallastown, Jerry Glatfelter and his wife, Alice of York, Joel Glatfelter and his wife, Ruth of Jefferson, John Glatfelter and his wife, Lesa of Owings Mills, Md., and Jerome Glatfelter and his wife, Trina of Seven Valleys; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 16 step-grandchildren; 14 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Harold Bixler and Wilson "Bill" Bixler, Jr., both of Hanover; and a sister, Alice Hull of Hanover.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Chadwick Craig, and Lisa Glatfelter; and a brother, Marlyn Bixler.
