Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 PM, Monday, April 16, 2007, at St. Bernard's Church, Thief River Falls, MN with Monsignor Timothy McGee presiding. Burial will be at Comstock Cemetery at Radium, MN
Visitation will be 5 – 8 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2007 at St. Bernard's Church, Thief River Falls, MN with a 7 PM prayer service and for one hour prior to the service Monday.
Fern Ann Lenhart was born January 8, 1925 at Radium, MN, the daughter of Gardy Wilford and Verna Mae (Poirer) Lenhart. She was baptized at home, where she grew up and attended Radium School.
On March 2, 1944, Fern was united in marriage to Lindahl Arnold Knutson at St. Joseph's parsonage in Warren, MN. The couple made their home in Radium. After the children grew up, Fern started working at Arctic Cat, Thief River Falls, MN in 1969. In 1976, the family moved into Thief River Falls. Fern worked at the turkey plant for a year and a half. Lindahl died December 5, 1982.
On January 11, 1985, Fern married Russell Grant Nelson in Thief River Falls. Russell died July 21, 1997.
Fern was a member of St. Bernard's Church, Thief River Falls, MN and Thief River Falls Eagles and VFW Auxiliary's. She enjoyed music, sewing bingo and dancing. Fern was known for her lefsa and donuts. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and friends and the special time shopping with her daughters. She loved to drive her car.
She is survived by 2 children: Carol (Glenn) Erickson and Gaye (George) Thorson all of Thief River Falls, MN; 5 grandchildren: Kim (Jeff) Gilbert, Gwen (Scott) Anderson, Melisa (Rick) Standish, Michelle Anderson and Jared (Paula) Comstock; 7 great grandchildren: Kylie Anderson, Cody Anderson, Cassandra Holthusen, Tabitha Anderson, Tyler Anderson, Chad Standish and Alix Standish; 3 brothers: Lloyd (Violet) Lenhart, Thief River Falls, MN, Donald (Bernice) Lenhart, Thief River Falls, MN and Marvin Lenhart, North Carolina; 3 sisters: Betty (Donald) Ballard, Fulton, NY, Arlyne Soiney, Thief River Falls, MN, Patsy Elliot, Thief River Falls, MN.
Preceded in death by, spouses, Lindahl and Russell; grandson, Chad Erickson, sisters, Faye Lenhart, who was Fern's twin and Lu Vern Knutson; brothers, Wayne and Dennis.
