Rose Back, 81, died Monday, August 26, 2002 at Northwest Medical Center, CNC Unit, Thief River Falls, MN.

Memorial service will be 10:30 AM, Friday, August 30, 2002, at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Stephen, MN, with Reverend David Pretty and Reverend Mark Hanson officiating. Inurnment will be at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Augsburg Township, Marshall County, MN.

Rose Isabelle Benson was born January 18, 1921, at home, Augsburg Township, Marshall County, MN, the daughter of George Bernard and Selma Christine (Sjoblom) Benson.

She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran. She attended country school in Augsburg Township. After finishing school, she worked as a housekeeper in the area for several different people.

Rose was united in marriage to Anders Bagaas. To this union four children were born and survive. Rose worked as a treasurer/bookkeeper. She later divorced and then cooked at the Karlstad Public School from 1959-1962. In 1962, Rose married Archie C. Throlsen. Archie died in 1968 and in 1982, Anders died.

Rose moved to Karlstad, MN. She worked making quilts for Lutheran World Relief and made hundreds of quilts. She enjoyed her "scrap quilting". She worked as a homemaker. Rose enjoyed nature, bird watching, canning and gardening. She was very intelligent.

Survivors include children: Arvid (Pat) Bagaas, Karlstad, MN, Wuffy Evans, Arlington, WA, Leonard Bagaas, Donaldson, MN, Duane Bagaas, Karlstad, MN; sister, Edythe (Paul) Grandstrand, Stephen, MN; brother, Ray (Ruby) Benson, Lake Bronson, MN; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by husbands, parents and 2 brothers, Felix and infant.
